Robert Windon is a highly experienced attorney with a multifaceted practice spanning juvenile law, criminal defense, political campaign & election law, zoning, and general civil litigation. A parent and civics-engaged neighbor, Robert leads with empathy, compassion, and a focused determination to guide his clients through legal matters. Leveraging his extensive background as a former prosecutor and his dedication to community service, Robert provides strategic counsel and effective representation to clients facing diverse legal issues. Robert focuses his practice on working with families, from DCFS involvement and juvenile delinquency matters to trouble with your child's school and general family law. He also has extensive experience criminal defense, political campaign & election law, as well as general civil litigation.
He serves McHenry County as a Special Appointed Counsel chosen by the Circuit Judges of the county to serve the county in cases where the Public Defender's Office has a conflict of interest.
Meet Robert
Robert graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2006 and began his legal career with the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office. During his 6 plus years as a prosecutor, he served in every aspect of criminal prosecution, from traffic offenses to homicides and Class X Felonies. After he left the office in 2013, Robert went into private practice. In 2015, he and his family moved to Munich, Germany where they lived for 3 years. Upon return to the area, Robert returned to private practice. During law school, Robert was a member of both Chicago-Kent's nationally recognized Trial Advocacy Team and the Moot Court Honor Society. He also interned for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office and the United States Attorney's Office, where he assisted with the prosecution of former Governor George Ryan.
Robert currently serves his community as a member of the Barrington Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals and previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2011–2015. Robert has continued his education by working toward his Master of Arts at DePaul University's Public Relations and Advertising program.
